I got the chance to meet one of Liverpool legend, Dietmar Hamann, tonight in Brunei Darussalam.

‘Didi’ Haman was playing for Liverpool from 1999 to 2006. In 191 of his appearances, our own ‘Didi’ managed to score 8 goals. Hamann very much gain his first English trophies in 2000-2001 season: FA Cup, UEFA Cup, and League Cup. Under Rafael Benitez, Hamann helped Liverpool FC to get their 5th ever 2004-2005 UEFA Champions League Cup. He also managed to get FA Cup to the club in 2005 before he left for Manchester City.

Year 2012 Resolution

Posted: January 12, 2012 in Journal

Well, it’s 2012. Listing out things that I want to achieve is pretty much make sense. In non-priority sequence, here goes:

1. Continue saving fund for further education. I’ve been doing this since I moved to Singapore. I spent quite a lot when I was working in Malaysia, partially because I was engaged at that time. Now, it’s a very good time to pile bucks on my account. Money is good, not so much spending, except for occasional vacation.

2. Work out. I was in my prime, physically, couple of years ago. Now I’m 28, I smoke a lot, stress a lot, and not much of physical activities being done. The easiest and cheapest way to work out is jogging. Minimum 1 km, 20 sit ups, and 10 push ups every afternoon.

3. For ‘personal inquiries’, I must get the test result from the lab. Whatever the result is, I must accept it. And so as must my family.

4. Find new career opportunity. Well, I’m not a programmer by heart. Computer Science career path suggest me to take programmer as beginning of my career. As times go by, I switch a lot from programmer to system analyst. I need a new job description. More on managing, coordinating. Project Management, if you may.

5. Vacation plan. Some of places I want to visit: Vietnam, Raja Ampat, Hong Kong, Japan, Melbourne, and ultimately, Liverpool

6. Learn how to cook. Daily dishes. Because I will never know where will I be in the next 1-2 years. If I’m to further my study, I need to learn how to survive, financially. I compare my expense on daily meals by eating at the restaurants and cook in house. It really does save a lot of money.

Amazed by Dan Brown knowledge of America’s current science and security technology, surprised by how he played me with characters and who to trust, I thought another Dan Brown’s novel is exactly what I was looking for to continue my techno-thrill readings.

So I came with this, Digital Fortress. NSA related matters and issues. Remind me of “Mercury Rising”. Well, here I go. Hope for the best. I have the e-book, so as usual, mail me if you want it. It’s not even one megs.

Review: Deception Point

Posted: August 13, 2010 in Books, Review

Title: Deception Point
Author: Dan Brown
Language: English
Genre(s): scientific thriller
Preceded by: Angels & Demons
Followed by: The Da Vinci Code

Just finished reading Deception Point novel. Just like his following novel The Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown successfully assembled all factors of real life conditions, environments, technologies, current concerns, to a near true story novel.

Spoiler warning! At first, I thought this is all about criminal deception point, or should I say points, masterminded by NASA administrator or even the president himself. But, Dan Brown manage to surprise me by switching the mastermind. He caught me of guard, the NRO director, William Pickering. To tell you that my guess is wrong while reading this book, at first, I thought that administrator Ekstrom whose behind this. Then I thought it would be President Herney. Then switching again to Marjorie Tench. Then switching again to someone I don’t know. I never had figured it would be William Pickering.

Really good Dan Brown. This scientific-thriller is a must read novel to you who loves guessing around. You might want to have a browser open while reading this book, because sometimes you need to know what in the world is Dan Brown talking about: the airplanes, the submarine, Kiowa chopper, Mariana Trench location, etc. As for my private opinion, I love being in the world of inter-agency and of secrecy America held along until now. Suited perfectly.

Once again Dan Brown amazingly tell the story with real life existing technologies and conditions to make this novel looks real. If it’s not because of the smallest things scientifically named phosphorescent dinoflagellates, it would have been the biggest founding of century. But still, sometimes big things fail by the founding of simplest or smallest thing.

Conclusion: Very Recommended
Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5

Hello, world! Great Monday to start the work. Aside from humidity here at Kuala Lumpur, it’s actually have been a great day.

So how’s your weekend guys? I’ve been busy reading novel lately, started when I was in MPH book store at Bangsar Village, “Deception Point” by Dan Brown. It’s been a while since I read my last novel. So when I turned to the first page, I realized this one is quite interesting. The magnitude of the secrecy, if any exist in the real world and I’m pretty damn sure it is, is tremendous. Moreover, all technologies mentioned in this novel are exist. I have read half of this novel in one night. Just wait for my review when I finish reading.

I have e-book version of this novel. You can try and search for it or email me to get a copy. It’s not even 2 MB in size.

Ferdy’s Fashion at Work

Followings are my style guideline when I go to work. It is not that important for some. But still, you can use some to make you look as cool as me :)

  • You must have a PC or a laptop for work. Add another laptop to make you look capable of doing simultaneous job at once. This can also make you look geeky-cool!
  • Never ever put Hello Kitty or other lame wallpapers. Use cool wallpapers such movie themes, fighting characters, exotic or sport cars, etc. I used American Gangster on my PC and Hitman wallpaper on my laptop. The use of dark background can save you for looking at the wallpapers too much rather than work.
  • Don’t use fancy screen-savers. If you had too, use default screen-savers or really cool one such a F1 3D model or The Matrix console screen-savers.
  • If you had to wear long-sleeve shirt, fold the sleeve until it nearly reach your elbow. Not that high and not to low to the wrist. This will tell others that you are doing quite handful of job on your keyboard.
  • Unless you are a manager, use digital watch rather than mechanical. And strap it on your right wrist, even if you are not lefty. Be different with others.
  • Inside car elevator, if it’s crowd enough, stand straight with your hands both inside your side pocket. But never put your both hands to deep. Limit them to your wrist. If it’s not crowd, stand one leg straight and loosen up the other one. And don’t ever put your thumb only inside the pocket. It will make you look lame and jerk.
  • Always use white or black plain t-shirt to layer your shirt. People don’t ever want to see your nipples!
  • If you are given a lanyard to hold your id card, don’t let it hang in front of your belly if it will caused you annoying sounds while you are walking. Put it inside your front pocket.
  • If you are a smoker, get-off your desk sometimes when it comes to you of needing some fresh air, or if you need quiet time to think about your code or some analysis. You might go to building’s lobby and smoke there. Sometimes you will get enlightenment. Or a good view :)

I’m welcoming Roy Hodgson as Liverpool’s new gaffer. Do not know about him until Fulham. Is it for temporary until we find a new owner unlike the one we have now? Let’s see. But we don’t know that if this Roy mister can take us back to compete for the elite four. Sometimes surprise come with an odd way.

Now, about men leaving Anfield. Rumor has it, that Javier Mascherano will be sent off to Barcelona of Spain. But nobody assures this yet. Gerrard and Torres, as a fine lovely couple, already confirmed that they will stay. Torres said that he will not leave to Manchester City as one kid of his fan asked about this issue before Torres’ match with Spain. King Carra said Roy is the right man for Liverpool. This means that Carra will be okay. Who would have bloody dare to say Carra and Gerrard will leave Anfield. They were born here, Liverpool blood, they are Scousers until death. No news about Skrtel, Agger, Babel and Aquilani. I think they still enjoy their vacation from World Cup except for Ryan. Dirk still enjoying his winning with the Dutch after beating heavyweight Brazil.

It is confirmed now that Yossi Benayoun is the man who leave Anfield. I don’t understand this man’s loyalty. Ever. Well, thank you for the sum of ₤5.5million additional fund for us by selling you. And thank you for your service Yossi, we hope you will never find your form and will never contribute much for that sissy blues.
